Teacher who quit job over 35-mile commute can’t get unemployment


No one likes to fight traffic to get to work.

But a former Pottstown-area teacher’s decision to quit her job rather than accept a transfer and a 35-mile work commute has cost her a shot at unemployment compensation.

Commonwealth Court upheld the denial of jobless aid for Theresa M. Keim after finding in a recent ruling that her gripe about having a longer drive to work didn’t constitute a “necessitous and compelling” reason to quit.
